// My Best Free Advice May Surprise You //. I was // My Best Free Advice May Surprise You //. I was recently asked, as a sociologist and parent and teen communication coach, to give my best free advice to a parent looking to maximize the remaining time they have with their teen before they graduate and launch. Here it is. Assume the role of an equal in communication. Meaning talk to them as if they are already the happy, responsible young adult contributing to the planet as a force for good! You have a much greater chance at respectful communication and a greater chance at truly seeing and loving their soul (which could be the foundation for their future success). For HOW to do it, stay tuned… #parentingteens #parentingteenagers #consciouscommunicationwiithteens #consciouscommunication #consciouscommunicationskills #raiserespectfulparents #heart2heartparents #freeparentingadvice

If you have been longing to learn a way to be hear If you have been longing to learn a way to be heard by your teen and draw them out to communicate with you, this group coaching experience is for you. Not only will I teach you the conscious communication skills to use in the right order to rebuild a loving and trusting connection with your teen, but I will also share the latest research to help inoculate them against the teen mental health crisis. Remember these skills that they will see you model are the very skills they will need to navigate a complicated world as a young adult.

Private message me and I will register you right away to start on Thursday, January 19th. #groupcoaching #parentcoaching #parentcoach #consciouscommunication #consciousparenting #parentingteens #parentingtweensandteens #raisingrespectfulparents #raisingrespectfulteens #raisingteens #raisingteenagers #parentingteenagers #heart2heartparents

As parents we need a community of support too and we deserve to live our dreams. In fact, our teens need to see us live our dreams, so they live ours. Vision boards can facilitate that!

I will share the Zoom link, items needed and preparations to make prior to the workshop.

I first want to acknowledge that our parenting pur I first want to acknowledge that our parenting purpose to love and support our teen's journey to themselves, is simple. Note, I did not type "easy. "If your parenting intention is about being more present with your teen, then parenting can become quite simple, but incredibly difficult.

This week conscious mom shared her insight into seeing her teen as a scared little girl during a snowstorm over the holidays when they thought the daughter might not make it home for Christmas. Our teens need us. They are still dependent children AND they are budding adults negotiating their own boundaries and interpretation of the world as independent, autonomous free thinkers. That juxtaposition between dependence and independence is what makes parenting a teen so incredibly hard, because they need us to be there for all of it, the dependent moments and the independent moments.

How do you support your teen's path towards independence? I went straight to the source in my own academic published youth development research in the Journal of Applied Social Science! I asked tweens and teens themselves what did adults do that impacted them the most. Invariably they named their parents as the most influential figures in their lives and then outlined the roadmap to relating co-creatively.

Do fun activities
Teach a skill
Solve a problem
Protect
Presence in crisis (like the crisis of not getting home in time for Christmas due to a national weather event)

I’m on a mission to help parents and teens make conscious communication breakthroughs that build co-created solutions and positive futures as young adults.

If you are frustrated because your teen tunes you out, I know how to help you follow their road map in transformative but practical ways.

Private message me and together we will discuss next steps and which program (parent or teen; individual or group) fits your needs. How are your holidays going? Not only did I enjo How are your holidays going?

Not only did I enjoy time with my family, but I received another wonderful gift from a dear mom, a touching video. The video showed her teen fully engaged in the family Christmas celebration by singing Christmas carols with a home karaoke machine. Just a few months ago, this sweet teen was isolating in her room and sarcastically barking back responses when asked basic questions. Together this mom and daughter "did the work" in Back on Track Parent/Teen Communication Coaching Program and mapped a new mutually respectful relationship.

// Don't Make This Parenting Mistake at the Holida // Don't Make This Parenting Mistake at the Holiday Dinner Table//

Talking to our kids like they're not our equals! We heard a lot about equality this year, but it turns out the greatest inequity is in the parent - child or parent - teen relationship. Negotiating that divide is what I call parenting sociology.

But Oprah may have said it best. "In all my hundreds of interviews over the years, everyone has one thing in common. They are all looking for validation."

Would you believe that's what your teen's moody behavior is really about underneath. They are seeking to be seen and heard for who they are, even though they are experimenting with who they are.

How we listen to kids demonstrates that they matter. It's the foundation of interaction, from a baby crying to a teen complaining about a rule.

We are made into people by our interactions.

Communication is so vital because it is the one thing, we can control in facilitating generational change of behavior patterns, like yelling, guilting or shaming.

Do we want them to learn manipulation techniques for soliciting compliance in others or do we want them to fully experience who they are and learn to share it in respectful ways?

I believe listening to and affirming the truth teens are trying to impart can change the trajectory of their lives. I've seen it throughout my career.

If you're worried about the track your teen seems to be headed down and you feel anxious about their future beyond the holidays, then getting them back means learning NEW Conscious Communication Skills.

Reach out by private message and I will share the framework of my Back on Track Parent and Teen Communication Coaching Program, ask a few qualifying questions to be sure we are aligned and then send you the invitation.

I can't wait to hear from you. But make it quick to lock in 2022 pricing. It goes up in 2023!
